چکیده

Background In reperfused ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), CMR late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is the gold-standard for quantifying myocardial infarct (MI) size. Serum cardiac biomarker area-under-the-curve (AUC) is also used (CK-MB, Troponin T and I) and is more widely available than CMR. However, whether acute MI size measured by the 5 generation high-sensitivity Troponin T assays (hs-Trop T) correlates with that by LGE-CMR is not known.

Multimarker approach for the prediction of microvascular obstruction after acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: a prospective, observational study

BACKGROUND Presence of microvascular obstruction (MVO) derived from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is among the strongest outcome predictors after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We aimed to investigate the comparative predictive values of different biomarkers for the occurrence of MVO in a large cohort of reperfused STEMI patients. METHODS This study included 12...

Predictive value of high-sensitive troponin t versus conventional biomarkers for 1-year left ventricular function and infarct size after STEMI

Background Data relating high-sensitive troponin T (hs-cTnT) to long-term myocardial function and damage in patients after STEMI are lacking. We evaluated the use of serial and peak concentrations of hs-cTnT versus creatine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) for prediction of myocardial function as well as infarct scar assessed by cardiac mag...

Combined biomarker testing for the prediction of left ventricular remodelling in ST-elevation myocardial infarction

OBJECTIVE The utility of different biomarkers for the prediction of left ventricular remodelling (LVR) following ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) has been evaluated in several studies. However, very few data exist on the prognostic value of combined biomarkers. The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the prognostic value for LVR of routinely available biomarkers measu...

Impact of Heart Rate on Myocardial Salvage in Timely Reperfused Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction: New Insights from Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance

BACKGROUND Previous studies evaluating the progression of the necrotic wave in relation to heart rate were carried out only in animal models of ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). Aim of the study was to investigate changes of myocardial salvage in relation to different heart rates at hospital admission in timely reperfused patients with STEMI by using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (...

Early kinetics of serum Interleukine-17A and infarct size in patients with reperfused acute ST-elevated myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND Recently, it was shown that interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is involved in the pathophysiology of reperfusion injury and associated with infarct size (IS) in experimental models of myocardial infarction. Our aim was to evaluate whether the IL-17A serum level and the IL-17A active fraction was correlated with IS in humans. METHODS 101 patients presenting with a ST-elevated Myocardial Infar...
